COLLEGE PROFILE
Balawan College, Umsning is an Educational institution of the Catholic Church and managed by Edu-wel Mission Society (EWMS), registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1983 with its aims and objects to establish educational institutions and related educational activities for the welfare and development of the people.
Established in 2009, the college is a minority and co-educational institution dedicated to (L) Rev. Fr. Michael Balawan SDB, a French Missionary and renowned Educationalist who pioneered in the field of education and other related activities in Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya as a whole and Umsning area in particular.
Balawan College lies in the heart of Umsning. It is about 30 kilometers from Shillong and 20 kilometers from Nongpoh. Its central location, in the District, offers great advantages to the people of Ri Bhoi because of the accessible transportation. The College provides a perfect academic ambience where the students are not disturbed by the hustle and bustle of life.
